she/her/hers
Colleen’s approach to therapy is collaborative and focuses on psychological well-being and mind-body wellness, emphasizing approaching barriers in life with non-judgement and non-avoidance.
Dr. Colleen Miller earned her Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Miller has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in inpatient, community mental health and integrated behavioral health centers. During her training she has focused on cognitive behavioral approaches in treating a variety of presenting problems. She has a particular passion in providing LGBTQ+ affirming care for adolescents and young adults, as well as treating adjustment related difficulties such as postpartum concerns, chronic health diagnoses and anxious distress. She is keen to teach skills in behavioral activation, communication, parent-child interaction, and boundary setting that improve clients’ ability to interact with the world around them.
Colleen is always interested in hearing what clients hope to gain from their experience and adapts evidence-based practices to the unique needs of individuals. She places an emphasis on intersectionality and how the lens through which we experience ourselves impacts our life experiences. She makes a point to incorporate humor and compassion in every session and celebrates the therapeutic process along every individual’s journey toward improved quality of life.
I am consistently impressed by clients’ ability to overcome difficulty and their motivation to live fuller lives. It is my clients who have taught me the value of openness, resilience, and vulnerability. I hope to instill a growth mindset for my clients to embrace change in their lives without fear, but with courage and the knowledge that the juice is worth the squeeze!
